Black Diamond

On February 18 at 10:21 a.m. on the 31500 block of Lake Sawyer Rd., officers contacted an individual in a vehicle, in a parking lot. Following an investigation, it was determined that the individual was under the influence of drugs. The individual was arrested, and vehicle impounded.

On February 15 at 1:02 p.m. on the 31000 block of 229th Ave. SE, officers were dispatched for an unknown vehicle parked in front of a residence. The caller believed the driver was the subject of a protection order and was in violation of the order by being at the residence. Officers located the vehicle and contacted the occupants. It was determined no order violation had occurred as the driver of the vehicle was picking up a friend from a neighboring residence.

On February 14 at approximately noon 32600 block of Railroad Ave., officers were contacted regarding a subject removing political signs. Upon contact, the subject stated she believed she could remove the signs and leave them in a pile next to the roadway because the election was completed the prior day.

Covington

On February 13 at 2:40 p.m. on the 17300 block of SE 270th Pl., a male suspect was observed looking in vehicles in a parking lot and trying door handles. According to the witness, the male was also seen near the vehicle when a wallet and phone were stolen from the vehicle the day before. Upon contact, the male denied he had taken anything. The male was recommended for attempted vehicle prowl.

On February 13 at 11:47 a.m.-3:54 p.m. on the 17200 block of SE 272nd St., a male was observed prowling a vehicle. Upon contact, the male was IDed. Search of the male revealed a wallet that contained two checks belonging to someone else. Upon contact, the owner stated that he was missing two checks and believed that the checks were stolen while he was sleeping. The male was booked into SCORE (South Correctional Entity) for Possessing Stolen Property, 3rd degree.

On February 10 at 7 p.m. on the 17400 block of SE 272nd St., intoxicated male and female juveniles went to a business where they were reportedly disturbing customers. Upon contact, the 15-year old juveniles stated they were just hanging out and showed the officer a bottle of alcohol three quarters full, which the female purchased from a friend. The female stated that her parents were on a cruise and that older siblings were caring for her. Portable breath tests for the juveniles were .031/.048. The juveniles were released to guardians and the alcohol thrown in the trash.

King County
On February 15 9:27 a.m. on the 14100 block of SE 177th St., after starting a vehicle, the owner ran back into the residence for a few seconds. Upon return, the vehicle was gone. According to the owner, a group of teens waiting for a bus were gone, after which their bus arrived a few minutes later.

On February 14 between 8 p.m. – midnight on the 18800 block of SE 213th St., a resident discovered that a shed was open with the lock unsecure. The shed contained tools for yard maintenance and her bike. Looking inside, she discovered her bicycle was missing. She suspected a maintenance worker caring for her property had taken the bike. When she went to his residence, she found the bike in his front yard. She recovered her bike and brought it home.

On February 14 between 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. of February 15 on the 29500 block of 176th Ave. SE, someone smashed out the front window of a vehicle that was parked on a resident’s property. A second vehicle also on the property that was left unlocked had the rearview mirror removed and damaged.

On February 12 at 5:08 p.m. on the 17200 block of 140th Ave. SE, two packages with their shipping labels torn off were found behind a business. One contained a seatbelt and the other contained a safety device. When returned to the owner, the owner stated the packages had been stolen earlier.

On February 12 at 12:14 a.m. in the area of SE 288th St. and 216th Ave. SE, a male was observed walking along a road shoulder. Upon contact, the known male took off running while the deputy was checking his name. K9 located the male, who had a warrant, in the brush behind a residence. The male was booked into SCORE on his warrant. Additional charges were recommended for Obstructing a Public Servant.

On February 11 between 11 p.m. and 11:30 a.m. on the 28100 block of 193rd Ave. SE, someone stole a vehicle from a residential driveway.

Maple Valley

On February 17 at 11:20 p.m. in the area of SE 275th Pl. and 228th Ave. SE, a driver was observed unconscious in a vehicle with the keys in the ignition and the vehicle running. Two open beer containers were observed in the vehicle’s console and the male smelled of a strong odor of alcohol. After refusing to take the Field Sobriety Tests, the male blew breath samples of .170/.179. The vehicle was impounded, and the male released to a parent pending filing of charges for DUI.

On February 15 at 2:29 a.m. on the 26200 block of Maple Valley/Black Diamond Rd. SE, a male, who was observed near a marijuana shop, was later observed near another business. Both businesses had been recently struck with thefts and burglaries. Upon contact, the male stated he had fallen asleep on a bus while heading to a nearby city. According to the male, the bus driver woke him up and dropped him off in the area. After giving the officer incorrect information about himself, check of the male through an ID came up with no record. The male was transported to the city and released.

On February 14 at 5:43 p.m. on the 26500 block of 242nd Ave. SE, a male was observed riding a bicycle to a business without a helmet. After seeing an officer, the male jumped off his bike and acted like he was checking the bike tires. Upon contact the male stated he had just purchased the bike from a friend that day even though he could not recall the friend’s last name or phone number. Later he changed his story to his friend giving him the bike. The male was released following an investigation, however, he was told that if it was determined later that the bike was stolen, the male would be charged with Possession of Stolen Property.
